CARE International in Yemen
CARE International is currently seeking an Accountant– Sana’a Hub Office. who will be undertake and complete all financial tasks and requirements, provide support services to staff and to project.
Position: Accountant – Hub Office
Location: Sana’a Hub Office
Main Responsibilities:
Prepare all financial journals, reconciliation and PeopleSoft spreadsheets.

- Prepare prepayment and accrual journals
- Monitor open items before the soft close
- Record expenses in PeopleSoft using AP module in a timely manner
- Implement CARE’s documentation attachment policy and ensure all supporting documents are attached in PeopleSoft for ease of audits
- Prepare bank orders for transfers and payments
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Monitor cash account reconciliation.
- In Coordination with the Finance and Administration officer prepare bi-weekly financial reports for project managers and Program teams.
Financial compliance

- Review payment vouchers and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with CARE’s financial guidelines.
- Maintain advance vouchers and ensure the advances are acquitted in a timely manner. Monitor the aging of advances taken by CARE staff and those transferred to the Sub-Grantees
- Reconciliation of the cash distribution data between the FSP and CARE to make sure the information matches
- Responsible for sub grant contracts (Work with CARE partners to ensure compliance with CARE’s financial guidelines)
- Review and upload the sub-grantees expenses and ensure all original supporting documents are attached in Peoplesoft in accordance with the supporting documents indicated in the sub-grants contracts
- Perform monthly audits of the documents before sending them to Head office in Sana’a
Documentation, Filling :

- Maintain spreadsheet for Bank & Safe / Petty Cash
- Provide information about cash-on-hand and bank balances for any currency upon request by authorized staff
- Provide information about cash needs for upon request by CO staff
- File supporting financial documents.
- Work with external auditor as required.
- Coordinate with CARE Finance team during external and internal audits
- Reconciling the payments to financial service providers and making sure all support documents are received.
Property management reconciliation

- Responsible for property management and reconciliation between the register and the CARE Yemen books.
Provide administrative support

- Ensure a clean and efficient working area, as well as a co-operative and supportive working environment.
- Organize supplies for needed events (stationary, refreshments, lunch, etc.)
- Provide Arabic-English translations as requested
Required
• Bachelor degree in accounting
• Knowledge of double entry accounting
• Minimum 1 year of bookkeeping and accounting experience
• Experience in filing and safeguarding important documents.
• Experience in managing and reconciling petty cash.
• Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Able to work under pressure as part of a busy team
• Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal skills and patience.
